What Timo Werner did on Instagram ahead of reporting for Chelsea training after £47.5m transfer

Timo Werner is just days until away from training with his new Chelsea teammates for the first time since his £47.5m transfer was completed.

The Germany international's move from RB Leipzig was agreed before the 2019/20 Bundesliga season concluded, but his contract at Stamford Bridge did not officially come into effect until July 1, 2020.

Werner is one of two new faces in west London ahead of next season - alongside Hakim Ziyech - but neither player can feature against Leicester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

In fact, Chelsea are still awaiting Werner's arrival, although's there is a perfect explanation for the delay.

"Timo Werner has only finished recently, so he's having a well-deserved break and will come back later on in July, Blues head coach Frank Lampard revealed earlier in the month.

"Ziyech will come here earlier than that, but we need to wait on the quarantine news before we can be clearer on that."

That update from Lampard was spot on as Ziyech reported for training on July 11 and has seen been spotted in several sessions ahead of the season finale.

Meanwhile, Werner has been posting content of himself on holiday via social media, but he too will soon be reporting for the UK as per Lampard's update.

And it would appear he's excited about the prospect as the striker has updated his Instagram profile page to show he's a Chelsea player.

Werner could soon be joined at Stamford Bridge by a familiar face in international teammate Kai Havertz.

The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid has reportedly agreed terms with the Blues over a £72m transfer and has already told Lampard how he can play with Christian Pulisic and Werner.

"I would say the No.8 position, inside right," Havertz said in an interview with Marca in November. "I'm not a classic No.10, but I like to have the ball at my feet, simply enjoying myself on the pitch.
